Possible More Information on Google Pixel 8a Launch as it Approaches

The Google Pixel 8a is shaping up to be a solid upgrade over its predecessor, and according to the latest report, the launch of a new Pixel a model isn’t far off. The biggest hint of the Pixel 8a’s launch is that the phone has passed the FCC, which is the final step in product certification before it hits the market.

With the Google I/O 2024 dates already confirmed for mid-May this year, we can expect to hear more from the company about a possible Pixel 8a launch at its keynote in over a month. Previous Pixel a models have launched at the event over the years, and we don’t see why Google couldn’t do it again.

Pixel 8a to be released in May 2024: What we can expect

While Google has yet to confirm an official release date for the Pixel 8a, we’ve got more information about the upcoming mid-range Pixel phone courtesy of Kamila Wojciechowska. Tip claims the Pixel 8a has a 120Hz refresh rate display with a peak brightness of 1,400 nits. However, this report says that the Pixel 8a may not see major hardware upgrades, especially the cameras of the upcoming Pixel model.

It has been pointed out that Google could keep the same Pixel 7a sensors in its successor. The Pixel 8a uses the Tensor G3 chipset, which also powers the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, and is much better than the Tensor G2 in terms of power management.

In terms of design, we might see a more rounded approach with the Pixel 8a, which should give it a better feel and grip. Google is unlikely to increase the screen size beyond 6.1 inches again, but we could see a 256GB storage option this year, which means more money for Google’s coffers. The Pixel 7a was launched at around Rs 42,000 and we expect a similar range for the Pixel 8a as well.
